Mr. F. Reviews: How to Succeed ... with Nick Jonas

Nick Jonas as J. Pierrepont Finch

After being on Broadway for some time I finally checked out How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying starring Nick Jonas and Beau Bridges!  While I am a huge fan of what I call "NEW BROADWAY" I am very happy to see a revival of an older Broadway show be so fantastic!  This show has something for everyone.

The Rob Ashford's choreography is beyond fantastic and extremely creative.  Huge numbers like "Brotherhood of Man" show off the casts incredible talents.  The set design, by Derek McLane, is very clever and keeps the story rolling along.

Michal Urie as Bud Frump
The story, which is somewhat narrated by Anderson Cooper, is about J. Pierrepont Finch (Nick Jonas), a window washer with ambition, who uses a book to tell him how to, well, succeed in business.  He lands himself an entry-level job at World Wide Wickets, a company "so big that nobody knows exactly what anybody else is doing." There he meets Rosemary Pilkington (played by the beautiful Rose Hemingway), a secretary with ambitions of her own matrimonial ambitions.  Overtime Finch works his way up in the company using his book as his guide which becomes quite a problem to Bud Frump (Michael Urie), the boss's nephew.  Finch's boss, J.B. Biggley (played by a surprisingly great musical theatre actor Beau Bridges) takes a liking to Finch as he is promoted higher and higher within the company.  Obviously, chaos ensues as Finch creates a fun, but flaw-full contest to promote the company.  If only he'd play it the company way?!

I would recommend this show to any family who would like to see a Broadway show.  I give this production a B+.  Go check it out!!
